URN
From Memography
A URN (Uniform Resource Name) namespace in the World Wide Web is identified by a "Namespace ID", NID, which is registered with IANA (see Registration Procedures for URN NIDs).
Currently there are only about 25 registered URNs. (NIDs run from 1 to 25.)
All of these URNs can be used for memespace or taxospace names.
See, for example, memespaces for IETF, the Internet Engineering Task Force, and for OASIS, the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards.
Formal registration of a URN requires a cumbersome RFC procedure.
Memography's Memespace Registry will offer a much simpler procedure for registering memespace names.
